On Wednesday 24th January, our Year 5 and Year 6 School Councillors visited Warboys Community Primary School as part of a new project called 'Councillor School Swap'. Upwood Primary and Warboys Primary have teamed up to share good practices across different areas of school life.
Our School Councillors spent the morning visiting English and Mathematics lessons at Warboys Primary and ate their lunch together to focus on specific areas which included: the school environment, both inside and outside; displays, both in classrooms and communal areas; facilities, including ICT; teaching, including the quality of teaching resources; learning, including book scrutiny and children's behaviour in general. In addition to identifying and sharing these areas of strengths, our School Councillors also set targets for Warboys School Council to consider.
The visit culminated with the School Councillors sharing their pupil voice in each area with the head teacher, Mrs Boxall, who very much appreciated the children's views of the school.
The experience was extremely positive and we are looking forward to Wednesday 7th February, when School Councillors from Warboys Primary will be completing their observations of Upwood Primary School. What targets will we be set?
